Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of religious moderation from the perspective of the Prophet Muhammad’s hadiths as part of efforts to maintain social harmony and interfaith coexistence. Religious moderation is understood as a balanced, just, and non-extremist approach to religious life, in accordance with the universal values of Islam. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach to analyze hadiths related to wasatiyyah (moderation) in religious practice. The findings indicate that the Prophet Muhammad exemplified moderate behavior in worship, social interactions, and interfaith relations. The hadiths emphasize the importance of balance, tolerance, and the avoidance of excess or narrow-minded fanaticism. Religious moderation in the hadiths is also closely related to the principles of compassion, justice, and mutual respect. Thus, the values of religious moderation as reflected in the Prophet's hadiths serve as a vital foundation for building an inclusive and peaceful society in the midst of diversity.
