Implementation of the Audiovisual Media-Based Quranic Story Method on Students' Learning Motivation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI)

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) instruction often faces the challenge of low student learning motivation. A primary cause of this issue is the tendency for material delivery to be monotonous, lacking emotional resonance, and failing to engage students' affective dimensions. To address this challenge, this article proposes an innovative strategy utilizing the Quranic storytelling method combined with audiovisual media. Quranic stories serve not merely as historical narratives but also contain life lessons rich in moral and spiritual values. Supported by visual and auditory media, storytelling becomes more vivid, interactive, and accessible, thereby enhancing student interest and engagement.
This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The results indicate that this method positively impacts student learning motivation. Indicators of this improvement include heightened emotional engagement during the learning process, active responses to the material, and a genuine commitment to understanding and internalizing the religious values ​​being taught. These findings suggest that a communicative instructional approach—one that addresses psychological aspects and leverages modern technology—can render religious education more effective in shaping character and strengthening students' spiritual awareness.
